Early Childhood Education
Program Objective:
To prepare students for a career in the Childcare field who are ready to enter the workforce immediately after graduation, as well as students who wish to continue their education in a post-secondary setting.
Course Length: Four Years - Grades 9-12
Program Goals:
Upon completion, Childcare and Support Services Management students will be able to:
- Identify stages of child growth and development
- Demonstrate child safety and identify how to detect abuse or neglect
- Plan nutritious snacks/meals
- Apply and utilize proper program planning and management procedures
- Understand and create behavior guidance plans
- Develop effective parent-child relationships
- Understand and apply laws, regulations and policies
Students will have an opportunity to work in a childcare setting as part of the classroom curriculum.
Career Outlook
The childcare industry is considered a bright outlook occupation that is expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, offering a large number of job openings.

Child Care Students Visit King's College Education Department
Child Care students along with their instructor, Mrs. Patty Temple, had the opportunity to tour the King's College Education Department, meet with faculty, and had a guided tour of the entire campus with Michelle Landon, Director of Undergraduate Admissions, and Student Admissions Ambassador, Mercedes Vinsko. Child Care Students Visit King's College
WSCTC Child Care students recently visited King's College in Wilkes-Barre. Child Care students had the opportunity to observe and participate in Mrs. Marlene Knaub's EDUC 215 Development, Cognition, and Learning course.
